ASTORIA, Ore. — An Idaho veteran is starting his journey in Astoria to honor U.S. military heroes.
On Saturday, Mike Ehredt began the Project America Run. The retired Postal Clerk and Army vet planned a 4,500 mile journey across the country to honor service members lost in Iraq.
Ehredt will put flags that hold a yellow ribbon with the name, rank, service, age and hometown of each member every mile along the roads he is traveling. The last flag will be placed on the shores of the Atlantic in Rockland, Maine next fall.
Blog postings and an online map will track Mike along his journey.
“Arrived in Astoria, OR today … We went up to the highest point in town and could see the Pacific in the distance – ahhh my start point on this journey.”
You can also find a flag, listed in alphabetical order.
