Being held hostage in Iraq can catapult a gal from a pedestrian UMass pedigree to the hallowed halls of Harvard. But it also apparently makes one rather full of oneself!
    So there was Jill Carroll, the Christian Science Monitor freelancer who spent 82 days as a hostage in Baghdad, popping into Shays in Harvard Square.

    Jill, a University of Massachusetts Amherst grad who is a fellow this semester at Harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy, was recognized by a FOX25 assignment editor who was hanging in the pub with pals.

The intrepid editor went over to Jill, introduced himself and attempted to chat her up.
    “She had come in with her salon of friends, and they were all talking their Harvard talk,” said Someone Who Was There. “But it’s a very open place, where everyone’s standing close together or sitting with each other, so people just feel free to talk to everyone.”

    Carroll seemed OK with the chit-chat until the editor inquired what she was up to post-hostage crisis.
    “I’m a fellow,” she huffed.

    OK, our hero replied, then he asked whether she would be interested in doing an interview with Channel 25 to catch viewers up on her current situation. Which didn’t exactly sit too well with the former reporter.
    “No,” said Jill rather snootily, “I’m not doing any press.”
    Hence, we assume, Jill’s failure to RSVP to our e-mail query about the matter.

The Noxious/anti-U.S. military Dominican sisters, Ardeth Platte, 70, Carol Gilbert, 59, and Jackie Hudson, 72, attempted to pay a restitution fee via delivering canned goods to a court house. In their typical mocking manner they claimed the canned goods were for the very people they despise; military families.

Under the guise of helping military families the noxious Nuns pulled this publicity stunt:

When they arrived at Brown’s office, they delivered cans of food, and, as with every aspect of their lives, their choices were rich with symbolism. Hudson brought pork and beans to represent the pork-barrel nature of the military-industrial complex, and a can of corn "because this case has been so corny from the beginning." Platte delivered canned clams - saying the American people have "clammed up long enough. It’s time to speak truth to power" - and a tin of beef stew. "With the massive numbers of people who have been killed in this war, I don’t want to stew over this any longer." Gilbert selected sweet peas - "To give peas a chance" - and cream of mushroom soup, representing the radiation cloud from a nuclear bomb, a weapon that has been used by only one country in the world, she said - the U.S. The sisters put the word out about the food drive via the Internet, enlisting help from around the world. The way they calculate it, they would need about 4,000 cans of food to fulfill the required restitution.

Many people excuse the noxious Nuns because they are Nuns; with the notion of what possible harm can a few elderly Nuns do? Catholic nuns Ardeth Platte, left, Carol Gilbert and Jackie Hudson were arrested at gunpoint Oct. 6, 2002 after they used bolt cutters to enter a fenced Minuteman missile site in Weld County. They poured some of their own blood in the shape of crosses on the lid of the missile silo.

Why did Ms. de la Vega write this book? "The president will not be held accountable for misrepresenting the prewar intelligence unless and until Congress conducts hearings similar to the Watergate hearings," she told IPS. "As yet, however, we seem painfully incapable of reaching that point."

She told IPS, "Many of the victims of the president’s fraud — millions of Iraqis — have no voice in the United States, but the millions of Americans who were deceived by the president’s fraud do have a voice. We should use it, loudly and repeatedly, to pressure Congress into holding the president, the vice president and their top-level aides accountable for tricking the nation into war."  [more kommie ass klown bullshit]

A senior American intelligence official said Monday that the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah had been training members of the Mahdi Army, the Iraqi Shiite militia led by Moktada al-Sadr.

The official said that 1,000 to 2,000 fighters from the Mahdi Army and other Shiite militias had been trained by Hezbollah in Lebanon. A small number of Hezbollah operatives have also visited Iraq to help with training, the official said.

Iran has facilitated the link between Hezbollah and the Shiite militias in Iraq, the official said. Syrian officials have also cooperated, though there is debate about whether it has the blessing of the senior leaders in Syria. [more]

Former President Jimmy Carter’s center in Atlanta received more than $1 million from the family of Osama bin Laden, according to an investigative report.

DENVER, Colorado (AP) — A homeowners’ association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign that some say is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

Some residents who have complained have children serving in Iraq, said Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs.

He said some residents believed the wreath was a symbol of Satan. Three or four residents complained, he said.

"Somebody could put up signs that say drop bombs on Iraq. If you let one go up you have to let them all go up," he said in a telephone interview Sunday.

A 23 year old man (with a police record) decides he’s going to marry the mother of his two children, lovely, but before he marries and on the eve of his wedding he goes to a *‘house of prostitution’ and ‘drugs’, hangs out until 4 a.m., and then leaves with a prostitute to go have dinner. Yeah sure.  As it happens, this house of prostitution and drugs is part of an undercover surveillance the night this young man patronizes the shithole. The man ends up dead allegedly via two police bullets because when an undercover cop told him to freeze and put up his hands, he ran (with his car) into the cop instead. Of course the man is completely innocent (isn’t he always?) of any wrong doing.  The racist police (2 black, 2 white, 1 latino) decided to just open fire on an innocent black man.

Councilman Charles Barron is encouraging blacks to hurt whites in retaliation. It’s a lovely day in the neighborhood.

Please keep these steps in mind:
1- Deploy snipers on the rooftops of buildings that lie close to the main entry points for each area.
2- Prepare positions for medium weapons at a distance from the entry point, and make pincers with sniper and PKC fire. When you choose a position, make sure you can retreat to alternate positions from it, in case the enemy overruns the area (do not choose a building that is not adjacent to another, or use ropes to quickly slide down the building).
3- RPG carriers should maintain their positions on side streets and take cover behind barriers. Do not fire just for the sake of it (attack the first and last vehicle).
4- Create heavy fire density to force the enemy to take cover, and then eliminate them by sniper fire.
5- Provide hand grenades and distribute them to the Mujahideen.
6- Fighters with light weapons should always change positions, fire from different angles and not stay at one place.
7- Prepare and plant roadside bombs on the entrance to every area.
8- Bomb the gathering locations for the army of filthy Muqtada.
9- Prepare a special group to deal with any breach, and it should be armed with RPGs, PKC machine guns and KIA vehicles.
10- Plan ambushes and lure the enemy by using bait vehicles that they chase to be dragged into the killing zone.
